Plans have been submitted to use a thatched timber barn as a wedding venue.
Maldwyn Knight has applied to Braintree Council for use of the grade II listed barn at Hoses Hall, on Carters Hill, Toppesfield, for functions and weddings.
The barn, which was fitted with oak dancefloors in the 1920s, is currently used for private entertainment only.
Mr Knight insists no more than 50 events per year will be held, with a maximum of 120 guests per event.
He insists no alterations will be made to the building and the application simply seeks to change its usage from private to public.
