“STONKING” six-piece band Rude Awakening are headlining Burnham’s 18th Party in the Park on Sunday, May 11.

The free event from the Cultural Arts Development Society (CADS) also features music from new band Daft Folk, a line-up salvaged from “the wreckage” of local favourites The Ginga Hitlas.

Diverse lively folk band The Randy Swindlers also perform, along with local duo and Ritz Acoustic Club regulars Beckwood.

CADS’ Mike Murphy told the Weekly News: “What we are hoping to achieve is to bring cultural events, especially music, that are easy for people – families, youngsters, people with disabilities – to come along to because they’re completely free.

“We’ve been doing this now for 18 years, watching people develop, and whatever profit we generate we put it to the next event. CADS are really looking forward to putting on this year’s Party in the Park.”

For youngsters there will also be a bouncy castle and Kreative Kidz area with arts, crafts and face painting, all held in Burnham’s Manor Gardens.
