Pupils at Clarendon Academy had shovels at the ready to plant apple trees donated by The Big Community Grow project and The Friends of Clarendon on Friday.
Children in Year 7 planted 12 trees to make an orchard aimed at educating pupils about fruit, the care of trees and inspire them to be interested in horticulture.
The scheme was given the trees through Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s local food project, which works to develop projects in schools and community centres in Trowbridge.
The chairman of Friends of Clarendon, Juley Simmonds, who helped organise the orchard with teacher Jenny Eyles, said: “The children each have a tree to look after which will help them learn about where fruit comes from.“
