LEEDS sonic rock force Pulled Apart By Horses play the York YO1 Festival on Knavesmire on Sunday, as well as the Live At Leeds event the day before.

“After spending most of 2013 writing the new album, we're now so close to finishing it that we can't wait a moment longer to get sweaty with you guys," says guitarist James Brown. "So we're excited to be playing an intimate little UK warm-up tour in April and May. Think of it as some much needed exercise.”

An appearance at this August's Leeds Festival also beckons for Pulled Apart By Horses. In the meantime, they take their place in this weekend's YO1 Festival, where De La Soul will be performing the only festival date on the Long Island hip-hop trio's 25 Years Of 3 Feet And Rising Tour, in celebration of the landmark debut album.

Sunday's event will be spread across eight music stages with a Sub Focus DJ set as the headline act on the main stage. Sub Focus, alias Nick Douwma, rose through the ranks of underground jungle to become a major player in electronic music, graduating from dance floor-dismantling drum & bass to epitomise the "Anything goes" mantra of today's flourishing dance scene.

Other acts to note are Danny Howard, host of BBC Radio 1s Saturday Dance Anthems show; German label Innervisions' pioneering Ame; Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip's mesh of spoken word and hip hop; and The Mouse Outfit featuring Dr Syntax and Sparkz.

The Stonegate pub House Of Trembling Madness is curating the YO1 Micro Ale Festival and further attractions will be street food, cocktails, street art and a Hip Hop House Party.

Sunday's festival opens at 11.45am and ticket details can be found at yo1events.co.uk.
