MANCHESTER United’s Adnan Januzaj has been included in Belgium’s World Cup squad.

The 19-year-old is yet to play for the country of his birth after only committing himself to the nation last month.

But boss Marc Wilmots has included the attacker as one of 12 Premier League players in an initial 24-man party.

The others are Januzaj’s United team-mate Marouane Fellaini, Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany, Chelsea trio Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois – the last two have been on loan at Everton and Atletico Madrid – Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele, Nacer Chadli and Jan Vertonghen, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas, Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet.

  • Paris St Germain rightback Gregory van der Wiel was the most notable absentee from Holland coach Louis van Gaal’s provisional World Cup squad. The 26-year-old had been enjoying a fine season for the Ligue 1 champions before suffering a knee injury which has put paid to his hopes of competing in Brazil.

There was no room either for Fulham pair John Heitinga and Maarten Stekelenburg, Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, Stoke leftback Erik Pieters, AC Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson and Ajax goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo is joined by two of his Real Madrid colleagues in Portugal’s 30-man provisional World Cup squad, which features four players from all-conquering domestic champions Benfica. Ronaldo, whose hattrick in the play-off against Sweden saw his country to the finals, will carry their hopes against Germany, Ghana and the United States.
