AN annual walking event is being held tonight in Great Harwood.
The ‘Wednesday Walk in the Woods’ has been organised the town’s Prospects Panel, and is in the seasonal walks from Great Harwood programme.
Prospects chairman Barbara Sharples said: “This is shorter than our Sunday walks, and will take a couple of hours. The walk includes beautiful rolling countryside, a short walk on Bowley Hill and, on a clear evening, views of Pendle Hill and Pen-y-ghent.
“There will be some local history as the Dog and Otter dates back to 1805, and there are ruins of a farm built after the enclosure of the moor in 1762. However, the theme of this walk is a babbling brook, and we will be pointing out the things to see in spring and summer, such as marsh marigolds, water boatmen and damselflies.”
The walk will start at 6.30pm outside the Dog and Otter, in Cliffe Lane.
