SCHOOLCHILDREN in Barnoldswick will join the town’s In Bloom group today to celebrate last year’s success.

Their joint effort saw Barnoldswick pick up the trophy for the Best Feature in a Public Place at 2013’s regional Britain in Bloom awards.

Pupils from St Joseph’s RC Primary, Gisburn Road Community Primary, Barnoldswick CE Primary and Coates Lane Primary schools all grew edible plants as part of the project.

Marjorie Adams, chair of Barnoldswick in Bloom, said: “Former winners of the trophy include major cities and holiday resorts, so Barnoldswick is in very good company.

“We are very proud of the contribution from our schoolchildren.”
