Saints are set to launch a second bid for Celtic keeper Fraser Forster, after having an initial offer turned down.
As revealed by the Daily Echo last month, the club are in the market for a new stopper this summer and they have now identified the 6ft 7in England international as their prime target.
Forster, who has previously worked with recently-appointed Saints goalkeeping coach Dave Watson, would likely command a fee approaching the £10m mark.
Saints’ initial bid was well below what Celtic deemed acceptable, but it is understood the board intend to go back with an improved offer.
The club are also expected to take a second run at Norwich winger Nathan Redmond, after having an opening approach knocked back last week.
The Canaries, relegated from the Premier League last season, have said they would expect a fee upwards of £6m for the England Under-21 international.
Redmond is currently away with Norwich on their pre-season tour to Italy.
