Former Saints midfielder Tommy Widdrington celebrates his 43rd birthday today.

After joining Saints as a schoolboy, he made his debut in 1992 and racked up 90 appearances, scoring three goals.

Following Dave Merrington’s sacking, he chose to join second-tier Grimsby in 1996, going on to play for Port Vale and Hartlepool.

Invited to play for Salisbury by ex-Saint Nick Holmes in 2005, Widdrington succeeded him as manager four years later and took the Wiltshire club to the FA Trophy semi-finals.

He left Salisbury in the summer of 2010 after the club had been demoted two divisions from the Conference Premier for financial reasons.

Since February 2012, he has been manager at Eastbourne Borough in the Conference South.
