LIVERPOOL are said to be preparing a bid for yet another Saints star.

The mid-table side are reportedly lining up a move for Nathaniel Clyne, hot on the heels of his impressive England debut this week.

Clyne, who joined Saints for £2m in 2012, signed a four year deal with the club upon their return to the Premier League two-and-a-half seasons ago.

According to a report in The Daily Telegraph, Liverpool, not content with paying a total of £49m for Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert in the summer, want to swell the ranks of ex-Saints in their squad evern further.

However, bosses at St Mary's are said to be prepared to offer Clyne a significant new deal in light of his form and rising profile, though sources have suggested to the Daily Echo that talks have not yet been opened.

The club took the decision to sell Calum Chambers for to Arsenal for £16m in the summer because staff rated Clyne more highly, so will be looking to hold on to their man.

Saints are riding high in the Premier League this season and Liverpool are currently struggling to replicate their form from last year, sitting in 11th position, some nine places below Southampton.
