SAINTS have the perfect chance to improve their average league attendance at St Mary’s over the next nine days.

After six home games of the 2014/15 season, Saints have a superb record – a draw against West Brom followed by five straight wins.

In nine hours of league football at St Mary’s, Queens Park Rangers’ former Poole Town striker Charlie Austin is the only person to have scored past Fraser Forster.

But Saints’ great home form has yet to be reflected through the turnstiles.

Despite the team’s phenomenal start to life under Ronald Koeman, the current St Mary’s league average of 29,784 is actually DOWN on last season’s final average of 30,212.

In fairness, though, Saints have yet to welcome any of the division’s heavyweights to town.

All that is set to change as Manchester City’s visit tomorrow is followed by neighbours United’s arrival at St Mary’s on Monday, December 8.

The corresponding games last season both attracted large crowds – 31,229 watching the 1-1 draw against City last December and 31,372 crowding in to see United also draw 1-1 on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign.
