ONE of the key members of Southampton FC's backroom staff has been summonsed to appear in court over allegations of perjury.

Sammy Lee is accused of four counts of perjury relating to his time at Bolton Wanderers.

The Bolton chairman, Phil Gartside, also also been summonsed, along with former player Gavin McCann, ex-director Frank McParland, club secretary Simon Marland, Jerome Anderson, the head of sports agency SEM along with staff members Jeff Weston, Steve Horner and Dave Sheron.

The private prosecution is being brought by Tony McGill, a football agent who worked on the £1m transfer of Gaving McCann to Bolton from Aston Villa in 2007.

He claims that Bolton brought in SEM at the last minute in an attempt to 'cut him out' of the deal.

Sammy Lee joined Saints in the summer of 2014, as part of the new coaching team brought in by manager Ronald Koeman.
