1998 – Liverpool 2 Saints 3. Saints claimed their first league victory at Anfield since November 1981.

David Hirst struck twice for Dave Jones’ men, with Egil Ostenstad also netting. Michael Owen, then just 18, twice replied.

1996 – Saints 1 Crewe 1. Matt Le Tissier grabbed a second half leveller as Saints could only draw with two divisions lower Crewe in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The visitors had gone ahead on 20 minutes through Gareth Whalley.

Saints won the replay 3-2 at Gresty Road, scoring in the first half through Neil Shipperley, Jason Dodd and Richard Hall.

1993 – Tottenham 4 Saints 2. Saints had been leading at half-time through Iain Dowie before the hosts blasted four goals inside six remarkable minutes.

Teddy Sheringham (2), Nick Barmby and Darren Anderton turned the game on its head before Francis Benali was sent off.

Richard Hall grabbed a consolation shortly after.
