Maya Yoshida insists Saints’ recent lack of goals is a problem that the whole team must take responsibility for - not just the attacking players.

Yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at West Brom means Ronald Koeman’s men have now failed to score in any of their last three matches.

They must break that run quickly if they are to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for Europe, and even next season’s Champions League.

But, while the focus will be on the forward players, Yoshida believes everyone must play their part.

“We couldn’t score, but it’s not only an offensive problem, because I think, in my opinion, good offence starts from a good defence,” said the centre-half.

“I think we need something small [to happen for us] – small things make a big difference.”

Yoshida was also not afraid to take blame for the decisive goal, as his defensive header fell to Saido Berahino to lash home in the second minute at the Hawthorns.

“I think it was a brilliant goal, but I think I can header much better and we should organise more quickly and we should do better,” he said.
