1962 - Saints 6 Scunthorpe United 4 (Division Two).

An incredible 10-goal thriller at The Dell saw Saints net through Terry Paine (2), Derek Reeves, Brian Clifton, George O'Brien and Tommy Mulgrew.

John McGuigan, Jackie Marriott, Jack Brownsword and John Kaye replied in a game which was level a 2-2 until O’Brien scored in the 61st minute.

As hard it seems to believe today, Scunthorpe went o to finish fourth in the old Division 2 – two places and four points better off then Saints.

1964 - Swansea Town 6 Saints 0 (Division Two).

A dismal result for Saints, who started the game in seventh spot while their hosts were fifth from bottom.

Herbie Williams (3), Roy Evans, Barrie Jones and Brayley Reynolds netted for a Swans side, with five of the goals coming in the second half.

2001 - Manchester City 0 Saints 1 (Premier League).

The sixth of Paul Jones’ club record seven consecutive top flight clean sheets came in this win at Maine Road.

Romanian international Dan Petrescu scored his second, and final, goal for the club with a spectacular volley on 55 minutes.

2012 - Leeds United 0 Saints 1 (Championship).

Rickie Lambert scored the only goal with a first half volley, but keeper Kelvin Davis was Saints’ man of the match after a phenomenal display at Elland Road.

Davis was mobbed by his teammates after the final whistle, a testament to his inspired display, as Nigel Adkins’ men took another huge step towards the Premier League.
