Fraser Forster has been taken to hospital with suspected knee ligament damage.

The Saints and England keeper required extensive treatment to his left knee after appearing to twist it while clearing a back pass just ten minutes into Saints’ game against Burnley at St Mary’s.

Forster cleared with his right foot under pressure from Sam Vokes, but as he did so his left foot seemed to stick in the turf, causing the horrible looking injury.

After a period of treatment on the field Forster was stretchered off to be replaced by Kelvin Davis.

Saints immediately decided to take him to hospital for further treatment and a full examination to determine the severity of the injury.

Forster has been forced to withdraw from the England squad for the upcoming games against Lithuania and Italy, with Rob Green replacing him.

The 27-year-old has been an ever present for Saints in the Premier League this season since joining from Celtic for £10m last summer.
