Saints defender Maya Yoshida played the full game as Japan beat Tunisia 2-0 in a friendly match this morning.
Late goals from Shinji Okazaki and Keisuke Honda proved the difference between the side in Oita.
Japan will now host Uzbekistan in a friendly next Tuesday, before centre-half Yoshida returns to St Mary's.
