Jay Rodriguez could be ready to play again in four or five weeks’ time, Ronald Koeman has revealed.
The forward has been out for a year with a knee injury, after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City in April 2014.
Koeman confirmed today that Rodriguez’s recovery is progressing and, assuming it continues to go well, he could be ready to begin playing in a couple of weeks.
“He is now on his last part of training with the group and that means that he will be normally in four or five weeks he will be ready for playing,” said Koeman.
The Saints boss did add on Twitter, however, that he was not definitely saying he would play in four or five weeks' time - only that, all being well, he could be fit at that stage.
@JayRodriguez9 could be fit in 4/5 weeks! That is different than playing a game in 4/5 weeks!
