Saints boss Ronald Koeman deserves to be named Premier League manager of the year, according to West Ham's Sam Allardyce.

Koeman is among the favourites for the honour, having confounded the pre-season doubters by leading his team to the brink of qualifying for Europe.

Allardyce believes the Dutchman should be top of the list for the prize.

"Ronald Koeman probably for what he’s done at Southampton in his first year and with the number of players they’ve changed around," said the West Ham boss, when asked who he thinks should win.

"They managed to sustain a top-six position, which is a fabulous achievement."
