STEVEN Davis admitted Saints’ 6-1 win against Aston Villa was a surreal game to play in.
The midfielder enjoyed a memorable afternoon on his 100th Premier League appearance for the club, as Ronald Koeman’s side romped to a victory that kept their European hopes alive.
But Davis, a former Villa player, confessed it was a slightly bizarre day as well.
“It was a strange game,” he said. “I don’t think I’d touched the ball too many times and we were 3-0 up.
“It was the opposite of the way things have gone in the last few weeks.
“I’m delighted to finish off at home with a performance like that, especially after the frustrations of the last couple of weeks.”
On Sadio Mane’s record-breaking hat-trick, Davis added: “It’s an unbelievable achievement. It was a bit surreal when the goals were going in so quick.”
