GRAZIANO Pelle has dispelled rumours he is about to leave Saints for Juventus by admitting he is happy in England.

The hot-form striker has netted nine goals for Ronald Koeman’s team this season and, as reported, was recently linked with a move to the Turin giants.

However, Pelle, who is on international duty with Italy, allayed many Saints fans’ fears that they are about lose one of their star men, although admitted that Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world.

The 30-year-old told the Italian press ahead of the Azzurri's friendly against Romania tomorrow that he is happy where he is.

“My contract runs out in one-and-a-half years time,” Pelle is reported to have said, when asked about a possible move to Serie A. “Italy is a wonderful country and I miss its beauty in general.

“The league was in decline but it is improving at the moment and that’s obvious from abroad.

“Serie A used to be snubbed in other countries but thanks to Juventus’ performances in the Champions League and other Italian efforts in Europe, we are returning to the standard of Italian football that we used to know.

“It is becoming one of the world’s best leagues once again.

“I’m nostalgic for Italy but I’m happy in England, we’ll see what happens.”

Pelle has scored twice for Italy this season, but didn’t find the net in a recent 3-1 friendly defeat to Belguim.

The ex-Feyenoord man admitted that he wants to do better for the national side.

“It all depends on individual moments, if I had scored against Belgium then everyone would have written that I work for the team and always score,” he said.

“At Southampton I work for the team and score as I’ve been doing for the national team.

“However, I’m the first to say that I need to do more and I always look to make myself more dangerous.”
