SAINTS were defeated 33-27 by Hampshire Cricket at the 35th annual Mountbatten School Sports Quiz.

Shane Long captained the Saints team which was made up of young players Harrison Reed, Matt Targett and kitman Mark Forbes.

They went up against Jimmy Adams, Mason Crane, Tom Alsop and Bradley Taylor from Hampshire and led them for the first six rounds of the quiz.

The cricketers came back to lead in the seventh round and then led to the finish, stealing back the crown that Saints claimed from them last year.

The event, which was in aid of Jane Scarth House, was hosted by assistant deputy headteacher Mark Shance while Scott Osborne, head of PE, was the quizmaster.

A question and answer session followed the quiz and a raffle finished the evening with money raised going to the cancer support centre in Romsey, which provides free support to those living with cancer and their carers.
