FRASER Forster aims to become the first Saints keeper for 15 years to keep five successive league clean sheets.

But he still needs TEN more shut outs in a row if he wants to beat his own personal best!

The England international produced a remarkable display in Tuesday’s 0-0 stalemate at Arsenal. His display was deemed “magic” by boss Ronald Koeman, and ensured he is still to concede a goal since returning from a serious knee injury last month.

Forster has actually gone 453 minutes in the Premier League since he last let in a goal. That was scored by Chelsea’s Diego Costa in the 11th minute of a 1-1 draw last March.

Forster played the first 14 minutes of the next game, at home to Burnley, before being stretchered off after suffering his injury. Since returning to the first team, Saints have beaten Watford 2-0, West Brom 3-0 and Manchester United 1-0 as well as drawing at The Emirates.

Forster is certainly no stranger to going a long time without conceding. Back in 2013/14, he set to a new Scottish League record of THIRTEEN successive clean sheets while playing for Celtic.

Forster broke a 43-year-old record in going 1,256 minutes of league action without conceding. Among the members of his defence for that historic run was Virgil Van Dijk, currently part of his rearguard at Saints.

In all, Forster has only conceded that one goal to Costa in his last 642 minutes of Premier League action – over ten and a half hours.

Prior to the game at Chelsea last March, Forster had kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace and had gone 88 minutes without conceding at West Brom.

Forster now aims for a fifth straight shut-out against West Ham at St Mary’s this Saturday.

The last Saint to keep five successive league clean sheets was Paul Jones back in the 2000/01 campaign.

The former Welsh international actually kept a magnificent seven in a row. l Forster has actually played five games since returning from his injury.

Apart from the four Premier League outings, he also appeared for Saints Under-21s against Chelsea Under-21s – and kept a clean sheet on that occasion too!
