Has there been a Saints player in recent times whose comeback from injury has made such a significant impact as Forster’s did this season?
They say you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone, well in this case it was more a case of you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone and come back again.
Credit to Maarten Stekelenburg, who did a steady and consistent job in Forster’s absence, but there is a reason why the former Celtic man is rated as one of the best keepers in European football.
Saints were in the midst of some poor form when Forster made his comeback from ten months out with a serious knee injury.
It came sooner than expected, but few, even he, could have dreamt it would go so well.
Forster kept six clean sheets in a row as Saints roared back to form, and landed a Premier League Player of the Month award.

He was soon back in the England squad, winning two more caps and pretty much guaranteeing a spot in the squad for Euro 2016.
His presence for Saints is undoubtedly huge, and, though he has played only half a season, his impact was such that he deserves consideration for your vote.
