NORWICH chairman Ed Balls has attempted to shoo away Saints over a deal for Carrow Road star Nathan Redmond.

Ronald Koeman's side have been heavily linked with winger Redmond, who is one of the club's most coveted talents, and even had a bid rejected for him in 2014.

But Balls has stated that the England Under-21s international will not be moving anywhere, along with other Canaries stars, as they try and bounce-back into the Premier League.

He said: "Nathan is showing his stuff out in the Under-21s (Toulon Tournament) at the moment, scored a great goal last night and I think everybody at the football club wants to keep all of our players - and our best players - with us into the Championship next season.

"As (manager) Alex Neil has said, the reality is there are going to be people looking at what's happening at Norwich.

"But we have no need to make any short-term, foolish decisions that are bad for the best interests of the football club - and we're not going to be doing that."

Redmond, who Norwich will apparently slap a £15m price tag on, is currently on under-21s duty at the Toulon Tournament with Saints trio James Ward-Prowse, Matt Targett and Jack Stephens.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at Carrow Road in the summer of 2017 and has been linked with long-term admirers Saints in the past.

In Koeman's first season at St Mary's a reported £3.5m bid for Redmond was rejected, with Norwich after almost double that.

Saints aren't the only ones interested, with Stoke and Liverpool also among other parties associated with the Birmingham-born winger.
