SAINTS boss Claude Puel believes it is good for his players to be hosting Sparta Prague so soon after their Arsenal heartbreak.
The Europa League opener provides Saints with an early chance to show their character after Saturday’s disappointment.
Currently second in the Czech League, Sparta visit St Mary’s on Thursday after dropping their first points at home this season, in a 2-2 draw against Mlada Boleslav on Saturday.
Puel, whose side has six Europa League group games in the next few months, is hoping they can play as well as they did at the Emirates as they target their first win of the season.
He said: “It will be interesting to play a game quick behind Arsenal. It’s important to stay concentrated.
“We play every three days now and it’s a good thing to stay with this spirit. Sparta is a good team, they play very well with the ball and it will be important to stay concentrated to make the difference at home.”
