Saints made it across the line to collect a hard-earned point.
Nathan Redmond gave Saints the lead before the half hour in the first half, rounding Claudio Bravo and knocking home.
Kelechi Iheanacho then levelled soon into the second half, hammering in the net from inside the area.
It was all City late on as they went looking for the winning goal, but Saints held on tight, stuck men behind the ball and ground out a draw.
Saints will be happy with their point here.
