EVERTON boss wants to bring Saints star Virgil van Dijk to the Merseyside club, it has been reported by the Daily Mirror.

The Dutchman has earned high praise following impressive displays against Liverpool and Inter and played a part in Saints' clean sheet in the win over Everton on Sunday.

But the Mirror is reporting that Koeman wants to sign his fellow countryman, who signed a six-year deal at St Mary's in May.

He would command a huge price but Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri revealed that the club tried to spend £60million to buy a Napoli defender during the summer transfer window.

He said: "It's Monopoly money. We went right to the asking price and they decided not to sell."
