SAINTS have agreed to sell captain Jose Fonte in January, it has been reported.
As reported in the Daily Echo, the Portuguese defender is frustrated at his lack of playing time in the side's Europa League games, which he considered a dream he "worked really hard" for.
He also told the Echo there is no contract offer on the table.
In summer the 32-year-old won the European Championships with Portugal and is highly-regarded at Saints, having been with the club during its rise from League One.
But now it is being reported by a national newspaper that Fonte has turned down a new deal at St Mary's, having failed to agree a new contract in summer, and will be allowed to leave.
Portuguese website Maisfutebol says Saints have told the defender he could be sold if offers of more than £5m are received.
