Saints will not appeal Nathan Redmond’s red card against Tottenham.

Though manager Claude Puel still disagrees with the decision of referee Mike Dean, who awarded Spurs a penalty and sent off Redmond for a supposed foul on Dele Alli, he has reluctantly accepted the decision.

Redmond has been handed a one game ban, meaning he will miss Saturday’s match against West Brom at St Mary’s, but return to the squad to face Everton on Monday.

Puel said: “No. I think it’s a decision and after for me it is finished.

“It is always difficult to come back and see other things.

“Now it’s important to think about the next game without Nathan and we will recover him I hope for Everton and now it’s important to prepare this game.”

He added: “I stay with my first view, my first idea, because for me it was just two players trying to fight to win the ball and I think it’s difficult to accept this red card.

“If it’s a fault I think it’s outside the box and another thing.

“Now it is finished and it’s important to look forward and to think about the game against West Bromwich. The game against Tottenham is finished and we cannot come back.”
