CLAUDE Puel faces a dilemma over whether or not to deploy new signing Martin Caceres against Manchester United in the League Cup final.
The Uruguayan has not played for more than a year, but executive director of football Les Reed stated that he passed "two days of extensive medicals and tough fitness tests" before signing for Saints.
The 29-year-old joins Saints for their warm weather training camp in Spain where Puel will be able to fully assess the fitness of the former Juventus and Barcelona man.
Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens have been Saints' centre-back partnership in Virgil van Dijk's absence, but Caceres offers a high level option if he's fit enough.
