Liverpool have made Saints captain Virgil van Dijk their prime transfer target for the summer, according to national newspaper reports.
Van Dijk, who has been rated around the £50million price tag, has been out of the side since January due to an injury he picked up against current Premier League champions Leicester at St Mary's.
The dutch centre-back has reportedly attracted interest from a number of top English clubs.
As many Saints fans would know, van Dijk wouldn't be the first Saints star to depart for Anfield; if he were to go in the summer, he would join Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane in making the move from the south coast to Liverpool in recent years.
