Saints were soundly beaten as Manchester City took a 3-0 victory away from St Mary's to go third in the Premier League.

Saints held on for a long time, but were finally undone on 55 minutes when City captain Vincent Kompany headed home from a David Silva corner.

Fraser Forster should have done better with it, but he could do nothing as it bounced close to him and into the net.

City doubled their lead with 12 minutes left as Silva released Kevin De Bruyne on the right to square it to Leroy Sane, who slotted home.

And it was all over on 80 minutes when Sergio Aguero netted his 11th goal in as many games, heading home from De Bruyne's stood up cross.
