CLAUDE Puel says he has "confidence" in Saints' hierarchy to do the "best for the club" amid ongoing talk regarding a multi-million pound Chinese takeover.

This comes as representatives of Saints owner Katharina Liebherr and Lander Holdings meet with the Premier League today in a bid to try and advance a potential £210m deal.

"No I cannot make a comment about this, this is for the director not for me," said the Saints boss.

"Just I have confidence in my directors and the owner to do the best for the club.

"This is most important for me and it’s important for me and the squad to stay with good concentration for our games."

He added: "For the moment speculation about this.

"If something come at the end of the season we will see opportunities or not to do things.

"For the moment it’s just speculation for me and it’s not possible to comment."
