SAINTS have released Cuco Martina, Martin Caceres, Lloyd Isgrove and teenager Harley Willard at the end of their contracts.

The most significant departure is Martina, who made 36 appearances for Saints during a two-season stay at St Mary’s.

The 27-year-old’s most memorable contribution to the club was last term’s goal of the season – when he netted a long-range swerving effort to open the scoring in the 4-0 Boxing Day thrashing of Arsenal at St Mary’s.

The Curacao international was brought in by Ronald Koeman on a two-year contract in July 2015 to bolster the ranks after Ryan Bertrand’s injury.

He had previously worked with Erwin Koeman at Dutch club RKC Waalwijk and is now likely to rejoin the Koeman brothers at Everton.

The last of Martina’s Saints appearances came in the 5-0 FA Cup fourth round thrashing at the hands of Arsenal back in January.

Meanwhile, Caceres departs having made just one first-team appearance for Saints, which came in the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough earlier this month.

After Jose Fonte’s departure and Virgil van Dijk’s long-term injury, the 30-year-old centre-back was brought in as a free agent in February on a short-term deal.

The former Barcelona and Juventus man played twice for the under-23s as he built up fitness, but was never able to displace Jack Stephens and Maya Yoshida in central defence.

The experienced Uruguayan instead spent 13 games watching from the substitutes’ bench and made a token appearance at Boro.

Caceres is joined by Isgrove in the Saints departure lounge, with the Welshman leaving after 15 years at the club.

The 24-year-old winger, who arrived in 2002, made eight first-team appearances in total, the first of which came in 2012 when he came on as a second half substitute in a 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Leeds.

The Yeovil-born man later had loan spells at Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday, before a very successful stint at Barnsley, where he helped the Tykes to promotion from League One, scoring in the play off final at Wembley.

Isgrove made his last two Saints appearances this season in the 1-0 win over Sunderland in the EFL Cup and the 5-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round.

Willard, 19, joined Saints’ academy in August 2013 after leaving Arsenal and was top scorer for the under-18s in 2014/15.

A statement said: "Southampton Football Club has confirmed the list of professional players who have been released this summer.

"Cuco Martina, Lloyd Isgrove and Harley Willard have all left the club, while Martín Cáceres also departs at the end of his short-term deal.

"The club wishes to thank each player for their hard work and service during their time with Southampton, and we wish all of them the very best for the future."
