Saints are ready for another tough battle against a counter attacking team when Burnley come to St Mary’s tomorrow.

Mauricio Pellegrino knows what to expect from Sean Dyche’s side, with another defensive away display more than likely.

Breaking down sides like that has proved difficult for Saints at St Mary’s so far this season, and Pellegrino admits it won’t be easy for his team.

He said: “I expect a really good side because they are in good momentum now, they are playing well in this way, in his way.

“It will be really tough because they are defending well and making counter attacks and dangerous action.

“Also they are comfortable when the opponent has the ball and they are never disorganised and have a good rhythm in general.

“I feel my players are ready to do a good game, and I think if we have a good day with the ball they will be in trouble too, and for us and for them it will be a difficult game.”

Dyche has been linked with a move to Everton to fill the vacancy left by the sacking of former Saints boss Ronald Koeman, and Pellegrino certainly admires the job he has done at Turf Moor.

“I don’t know him personally but I know how he has been working in the last few seasons and how they were growing,” he reflected.

“His job is outstanding thinking about a team that are really humble and working and playing with an identity is something that is really difficult to build.

“It is part of the process and transition when you keep the same ideas in the long term always you get results.”
