Holmes on the mend for Saints

SAINTS winger Lee Holmes hopes to be back in action within a month, following a long injury lay-off.

The 21-year-old damaged the medial ligament in his right knee during the 4-1 loss at QPR in September.

Holmes, who joined the club on a free transfer from Derby in the summer, was confined to a leg brace for six weeks.

Earlier this month, he was given the all clear to step up his recovery.

Although not targeting a specific game, Holmes is pleased with how his comeback bid is developing and hopes to return in time to help Saints through the hectic Christmas schedule.

“It’s good, it’s coming on quite well really,” he said.

“I don’t really want to put an exact date on it yet, but the training’s gone really well.

“I’ve started doing all the mobility work now, so I’m hoping it will be sooner rather than later that I’ll be back playing.

“I’m hoping that I can be back and ready for selection in about four or five weeks, that’s what I’m aiming for, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

So what. Are you saying our season will improve once injury prone players like Holmes, Thomas and Svennson return, then we really are in trouble.

I remember Wigley saying the same thing about Svennson and Pahars in the year we got relegated

Thanks for the info...

I would be more impressed by the journos if they got a statement from Rupert Lowe regarding Dave Bassett's comments on Talk Sport last night...

Come on Echo - what are you waiting for?? What does Wilde think of Bassett's comments???

Saintly, perhaps Rupert got involved because he could see what some of the supporters could see, Redknapp and Bassett were putting out teams that were not interested in playing, just receiving overpaid salaries.
Also the football played was not half as good as it is now. Yes, we have lost a few games, but the young lads are trying, something the players never did under that pair.

you're right there, it's frustrating what's happening but you can't question the commitment. Lee Holmes was excellent until he got injured. I don't think Ryan Smith is worth keeping as Holmes was the business on the left. Please come back soon

We need to get Raisak and Stern-John back. We need to play with 2 up front and we need experience and confidence in front of goal as we are not scoring as often as we need to be.

I feel awful about our position and financial affairs at the moment.

Lowe needs to come clean with the club and supporters and show us what he is putting into Saints rather than what he is fleecing.
He needs to lose his arrogancy and find some transparency.

End of the day we are Saints through and through. Keep the faith and hopefully things will improve.
