Rupert Lowe says priority is keeping Southampton Football Club alive

Rupert Lowe Rupert Lowe

RUPERT Lowe has said the number one concern is to keep the football club alive.

He says that the imminent administration of the club's parent company - Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC - has been done with the sole intention of keeping the football club safe and attracting new investors.

"It's now about keeping Southampton Football Club alive. This is the only way it could have been done.

"If we can stay in the Championship this club has a good chance of finding new investment. We have young players who are committed and will flourish in the future."

The Football League have already told the Daily Echo that if the parent company goes into administration and the club does not, there will no docking of points, which would mean almost certain relegation for the side.

Stoopert is spot on, keeping SFC alive is number 1 priority. Even my dog knows that. Now you've stated the obvious Stoopert, it's time for the long walk halfway across the Itchen Bridge and go swimming

Rupert Lowe's Number one concern is the number one concern that Rupert Lowe has always had... "How can Rupert Lowe profit from this and blame everyone else for any failings"

The Echo had better check their facts. The bit about Derby escaping points deduction is untrue. They went into Admin the season before the rules were introduced.

RL is still trying to hoodwink the fans, if he had not tied up all the rest of his questionable business into the selling of Southampton football club we would have had more meaningful enquiries into new investment long ago, as I said a long time ago you can hide almost everything when presenting yearly accounts until it all goes t*tsup and then everything is scrutinised. He has used SFC as a cash cow for too many years, SFC is the only bit of business he has left that can give him returns, that is the real reason. he has now realised that the club needs new investors a bit too late he should have tried before now, he can see that with SLH going into administration he is hedging his bets by hanging on to SFC, which could give a return. The only thing that worries me now is he will cling on untill it is too late, the most honourable thing he could now do, is resign, but again he wont his ego and greed is far too big. I am completely surprised he has not blamed the fans for his mismanagement, well not yet anyhow.

St.Yorkie says...
2:55pm Wed 1 Apr 09

Good old Rupert! Bang on the money again. His shares in SLH are worthless, his businesses have gone down the tube - and the last glimmer of hope is to get new investment to save the football club!
Why now you may ask? Because all the money made by the football club has disappeared and there is nothing left to prop up SLH.
I wonder if part of the investment will see him on the board of any phoenix that rises from the ashes? I hope not - because I will never enter SMS while he has anything to do with the club. Sold down the river? Well we are on the banks of The Itchen - should have seen it coming really!

If Rupes can get away with this it could turn out to be a brilliant bit of business. We'll emerge from it with our debts reduced or restructured and, fingers crossed, still in the Championship. It's probably also why we didn't sell anyone in the transfer window, as anything we'd have raised would have been taken straight from us.

The Echo really should check its facts again. According to the BBC if the administration of the parent company removes a substantial amount of debt from the club then the club could still get a points deduction.

Great.

The plot thickens,or is revealed !!Dear old rupes has mismanaged SLH and has a last ditch attempt to revive the club he has put on its knees,Make no mistake the fans will be blamed, isnt it strange how long it has taken for the penny to drop in some circles,we now know ,without doubt ,that this man has used SFC for his own personal gain and has the audacity to try and used what is left of it as his saviour-if it wasnt a sitcom, it should be,a bit like allo allo. apparently ,as reported Crouch is keeping stum-that translates as cant comment for laughing.

Okay so SLH go into administration, we don't have 10 points deducted, we miraculously survive. We are a good buy for an investor, great club, great fans, great infrastructure.

The big question is, where will we play, as surely St. Marys' will be repossessed!

My security word is move-star. I suppose that won't happen here as we have no stars! Sorry just a cheap shot, we've got a great bunch of lads here, maybe not world class.

New investment ???

We want a takeover Lowelife and you and judas Wilde out of our club.

Ever since relegation that Lowe created from incompetent managament this scenario was going to happen.

Lowes stranglehold and relucatance to sell his shares backed by so called fans Richards and Askham is why we have reached this stage.

Why did Lowe in 2006 group together the shares with his mates ? Many say to create a nice block and kill Wilde off before he had even started.

Did Lowe and his posse refuse to sign up to a new share offer in 2006 ?

Rupert Lowe and his PLC has killed Southampton FC.

32,000 for the Charlton game on Saturday and make sure you sing your heart out for the lads.

This has to be the only way of doing things at the moment sadly and does appear to be quite shrewd by RL. He makes crap decisions about managers and football and people but cant get away from the fact that he understands finance very very well. He does need to go though as does MW simply for the fact that the fan base would (and should be) united again, just done my sums and I think I’m right when it appears that RL shares are now worth less then £80k (is that right?) now that does seem like a good investment to me, buy his shares, get back the lost fans and start generating income and support. I know it’s not that simple but if it was I would be trying to get a re-morgage tomorrow

Rupert Lowe is Chairman of SLH, Michael Wilde is Chairman of the Football Club. Doesn't that mean Lowe is now out of work considering SLH has or soon will be wiped out? I'm sure they will justify the need for 2 paid Chairman. Bye bye Rupert, and take Wilde with you. You knew better than to let Sisu take us over didn't you. Another in the long line of poor decisions during your time. Now go!

Rupert is in this for one thing, and one thing only, to bolster his ego. He doesn't give a stuff about football, football clubs or the fans, all that concerns him are his stocks and shares, and as they've likely hit the bottom (and my security words are "UNIT-LINK" ha ha at least someone on the echo site has a soh), why not take the club's holding company down, and have bugger all left for new investors. Rupert and Wilde won't go unless they are totally forced out. They don't listen to anyone, this latest fiasco is just another in a long line of Lowes for the club, and the fans aren't Wilde about it.

With the presnt uncertainty the PLC/club cannot market season tickets for next season. This will be a massive hit to the cash flow. Time is running out.

If we want our football club to survive, there has to be a huge turnout of fans this Saturday. Any party who might be prepared to provide funding to the club (equity or loans) will want to be sure the club has a substantial fan base. Few customers, little revenue. Little revenue, we go bust.

It's more likely that SFC will see MORE fans now that Lowe et al have gone.

I am not the one giving the club money week after week to watch a poor performance am I no.

all your money goes to the players who live a luxury lifestyle who dont give a toss about you

i feel money would be spent better putting an ice rink there more people would enjoy it thats for sure
