Saints stars won’t be training today... ... but that was always the plan

Mark Wotte Mark Wotte

Mark Wotte will use today’s scheduled break from training to review his future.

The Saints first team squad have been given the day off – not for sinister reasons, but as part of their pre-season schedule that was planned weeks ago.

But as they and rest of the club’s staff are now being paid the June wages that should have been paid last Thursday, they have been told to report back as planned tomorrow morning.

However, as yet nobody is quite sure of what will await them.

With talks ongoing behind the scenes to try and sell the club, the squad will also be concerned by the direction in which they are heading with the first pre-season friendly – at Blue Square South Leaguers Eastleigh – only three days away.

Comments from the Mirror web site relating to yesterday.

Quote:- The news came on the same day manager Mark Wotte revealed he and his backroom team are to step down - leaving the first team with no coaches to train them.

No Manager, No Coaches and little prospect of a team. Is there any hope at all

I look forward to another day of a hundred moronic comments on here.

Well, lets face it, we don't have a football club left to follow anymore, so the new sport in town is who can become the biggest internet troll.

No sinister reasons, LOL,
So the first team have eight weeks off, then its planned to take the first day of pre-season off as well. Good grief!

I am looking on the bright side. If SFC goes under then I shall be about a £1,000 a year better off. That is a pretty good increase in annual income after tax. Now what could I do with an extra £1,000?

The Mirror also say

"Le Tiss is no Saint"

and that Le Tiss pulled the plug because the club where to recieve a 10 point deduction.

Sounds like they have some echo juniors in

Isn't Wotte's contract up anyway? No news here - we don't have a Manager, or coaching staff - perhaps the players that are left may make a better fist of it than the Dutch clown!

Lowe's gone and his Dutch boyfriend has gone with him - NOW!

I love it when a plan comes together...

I expect they will be using the day to speak to there agents to get them a team to play in next season.

Anybody who thinks this isn't affecting Saints chances of getting out of League One at the first attempt is mistaken. Should have been sorted out weeks ago really, so that football preparations were unhindered. At the rate "stars" are leaving the club, we'll have stewards playing in the team before long...!

And they'll have to bring their own ball...!

Thankfully MW hasn't left - you homophobic racist tw@t. MW has been, along with KD, a pillar of integrity during this process.

Unfortunately, KD will have signed for West Ham before the deal to buy Saints is completed in the next couple of days. Who can blame him?

I hope the new owners will be able to find a significant role for MW. A small reward for not walking away when the times got tough. Like you did.

Calm down this was all tongue in cheek - I'm not Denzil!

SSN said this morning that the Swiss group were ready to complete a deal within 48 hours, and quite frankly I trust SSN far more than the Echo.

I'd agree that MW has been a credit to himself and I'd like to see him stay on in some capacity.

All I really want now is a club to follow - we should all be thankful that Marc Jackson "pulled out" too, that had disaster written all over it!!

first 11 fans who turn up on saturdays at st marys will get a game.........what has happened to the club that i started to support in 1959 as an 11 year old, 50 years of following my team, queing up to pay my shilling entrance fee in milton road, cheering from the 'chocolate boxes', watching george bests debut for utd at the dell as a skinny 17 year old, overjoyed when we signed tony knapp from leicester, then getting david webb from orient, cheering on the boys on the night we were 3 nil down to first division forest with 16 minutes to go, we drew 3-3, going to white hart lane to see them stuff forest 5-0 in the replay, heaven! travelling to villa park for the semi against utd, losing 1-0, gutted on journey home, trips to pompey and the walk from the station to the ground, no trouble at all, i was 15 or 16 and took younger friends with me without any problems.watching heroes from paine, obrien, whimshurst to davies chivers, webb to channon ossie, steele to ball keegan moran to mcdougal, boyer golac....and many many more, the 76 cup final, i was offered a ticket from jimmy steele but turned it down cause i wanted to watch it with my 2 young sons, it didn't seem right that i should go and leave them at home, getting a colour tele to watch it, stokes slotting that ball past stepney, the town was buzzing that w/end, the open top bus ride through the city, i waited with my 2 boys outside the woodman pub in lordswood, the whole town was alight, a sea of red and white, ah memories.the days when we had 5 or 6 england captains playing for us, keegan, ball, watson, mills, channon, shilton and even the the under 23s captain david peach. keegans first game for us at the dell, i remember crying on the terraces when, before he led the team out, they played his song, 'to be home again in england', the hairs are standing up on the back of my neck just thinking about it. lawrie mac, a legend to me, the dark days of branfoot, also i remember protesting as a 16 year old outside the dell offices demanding that ' BATES MUST GO', how wrong was i, lol!memories of shearer, franny, i was there when he scored his only goal, also of wallace, case, claus, beattie and of course matty, the great escapes of the 90's, 27 years in top flight surviving on 15000 gates, stuffing united who hated coming to the dell, the cardiff cup final against the arse, memories of strachan and the pure arrogance of lowe the man for me who has killed my club, being relegated from the prem and sad that a lot of the players jumped ship, if only we had held that 2 goal lead against boro with 5 minutes to go, redknapps first game, i think we would've stayed up. no one can take away my memories, they'll live with me forever, and i'm sure that well bounce back, but sadly not in my lifetime. once a saint always a saint, thanks to my brother in law John Youren for taking me to my first game 50 years ago, r.i.p. john, COME ON YOU RED AND WHITES!
