No more points deductions for Southampton say Football League
4:25pm Wednesday 8th July 2009 in Saints News
By Gordon Simpson, Senior Sports Reporter
THE Football League has confirmed Markus Liebherr’s takeover of Saints and that the club is now free to compete in League One this season.
The league’s board of directors today signed off on the deal, which was announced at lunchtime.
A statement issued this afternoon confirmed all the necessary formalities had been completed and the club’s share had been transferred back to them now Saints have exited administration.
That puts to bed any conspiracy theories that Saints would receive more than the ten-point deduction already imposed on them.
Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney said: "I would like to congratulate all those associated with the club that have helped to secure Southampton’s future.
"I would especially like to thank Saints' supporters for rallying to the club’s cause during one of the most difficult periods in its history.
"The League is delighted to welcome the new owners of Southampton Football Club to our competition.
"We appreciate the professionalism and commitment that they have shown during these negotiations.
"In particular, they should be commended for agreeing the deal in a very tight timeframe and for being the first potential purchaser to have everything in place to take the club forward."

I think you will find Mr Simpson that this was confirmed a couple of weeks ago.
Now go out and find if Kelvin Davies is being offered a new contract do some real sports journalism instead of rehashing old news.

The supporters have suffered a huge penalty to rid the club of the cancer that was Rupert Lowe, but for the first time in years, we can all get together, have a beer, buy tickets, attending Saints games and start the rebuild job in the knowledge we have a new owner, with the right intentions (we hope).
Thank you to Mr Liebherr for saving our club. In my opinion, you have bought a gem of a club

Personally, I'd find a keeper who isnt shat at kicks and doesnt flap with the money we now have....I will never understand people liking Davies.
If KD goes, good luck to him. If he stays I think he will do a good enough job for us in the near future. Two years ago the fans thought he was rubbish. Last year they thought he was great. Next season who can tell?

I still hate Lord ma Whiner, he ruins clubs as a day job. I hope we get to the Johnstones paint trophy final or Play off final just so that we can boo him! Brighter times are ahead hopefully.
Lord Maw Maw must go.
If this experience has taught me anything it is that the League does not defend its members. I am glad that I have read articles about York, Mansfield, Luton and Bournemouth. The League needs to be strong enough and fair enough to protect our national sport.
Mawwhiny is shown himself to be weak and cowardly in his dealing with Southampton

In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is the new bird
He sings a love song as we go along
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say, "Are you married?", We'll say, "No man
But you can do the job when you're in town"
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we've made
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
Oh, you gotta keep walking
Oh, I'm walking, oh, I'm walking
They got me walking
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is the new bird
He sings a love song as we go along
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
In the meadow, we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman
Until the other kids knock him down
When it's cold, ain't it thrilling?
Though your nose gets to chilling
We'll frolic and play the Eskimo way
Walking in a Liebherr wonderland
