Key incidents

FULL TIME: Waigo flagged offside as he is put through and that’s the last action of the match.

89 mins: Jacob Mellis introduced for Lallana.

85 mins: Alan Pardew swaps Lambert for Papa Waigo.

83 mins: Holt goes close for Norwich, before Saints break away and Connolly fires a left foot shot just wide. Could be a winner in this yet.

75 mins, GOAL 2-2: Davis can’t hold Martin’s long range shot and substitute Hughes is first there to turn in the rebound.

72 mins: Double substitution for Norwich. Stephen Hughes replaces Simon Lappin and, very surprisingly, Cody McDonald comes on for Hoolahan.

65 mins, GOAL 2-1: Sensational goal from David Connolly – one of the best you’ll see all season. A stunning effort from 18 yards that curled right into the top corner. Saints back in front.

58 mins: Graeme Murty returns for the first time since August, replacing Michail Antonio.

54 mins, GOAL 1-1: Chris Martin bursts into the box and is brought down by James. Referee Andy Penn points to the spot and shows James a yellow card. Wes Hoolahan’s penalty is tipped onto the post by Davis, but the ball rebounds to him fortuitously and he taps into an empty net.

46 mins: No changes from either side as the second half begins.

Half-time: Saints lead Norwich 1-0 at the break through Lallana’s 11th minute strike.

35 mins: After Kelvin Davis does well to palm away Grant Holt’s driven ball across the face of goal, it falls to Darel Russell 20 yards out, but he blazes over for Norwich.

27 mins: Another James corner finds Rickie Lambert, but he turns the ball wide under pressure from close range.

26 mins: Morgan Schneiderlin hits a shot from 25 yards that takes a wicked deflection and nearly flies in.

24 mins: An excellent block from Gary Doherty denies Lallana a second.

18 mins: Dean Hammond wins a header from Lloyd James’ corner, but Fraser Forster is there to tip it over.

11 mins, GOAL 1-0: No chances to speak of in the first ten minutes, but out of nowhere David Connolly releases Adam Lallana through the middle. He beats one man and drills a shot into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Just what Saints needed, after a bit of a nervy start.
