ALAN Pardew was frustrated after seeing his side fail to defeat Norwich at St Mary’s but enthralled by the standard of the game.
Saints twice took the lead against the Canaries only to twice get pegged back to draw 2-2.
After Saints had taken the lead for the second time, courtesy of a brilliant goal from David Connolly, Pardew was desperate for his players to shut up shop but they didn’t and in the end they conceded.
However, few fans could complain with what they saw which was a brilliant game of football.
He said: “We’re trying to get a team here that understands how to win games but you can’t fault the quality of the game.
“It was a game that would have graced a higher division, Norwich were as good as us, there were chances galore.
“Defensively we were a lot better and it is a game that I felt we should have won because their two goals were disappointing on our part and our two were fantastic.”
