Davis could be out until New Year

SAINTS keeper Kelvin Davis could be out until the New Year with a groin injury.

The club captain limped off in the second half of tonight's 3-1 win at Hartlepool and was replaced by Bartosz Bialkowski.

Saints boss Alan Pardew said after the match the early indications are that the club may have to cope without Davis through the Christmas period.

Bart has done it before and he will do it again, bring on the Bartman!! Lets not forget he was our number 1 and he excellent shot stopper and penalty saver.

well me and my big gob.
but this is Barts chance to prove himself, one that he must grab with both hands.
although i have not rated KD lately i still hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
or we are going to need another back up keeper

I did say give Kelvin a rest after Saturday, but sorry to hear the news. Bart now has his chance and it'll be interesting to see if he can claim the no. 1 spot going into the new year. I guess we'll need to recall Poke from his loan at Torquay?

KD, has been everything you would want from a top pro. Even more, he stood firm in a time of crisis when he could of left. Every goalkeeper makes mistakes or is unlucky. yet we pounce on everyone of KD's. In a couple of games the same will happen with Bartman. The trouble is goalkeepers are vulnerable and one mistake and its a goal.
Whilst one or two seem to be gloating, he will be missed. Agreed this is Bart's chance, if he fails to impress he will always be second or out the door in January.
Other than the Palace game he has always played reasonably well. I like all saints fans wish him well.
Just wish this had happened a different way.

Tommy Forecast
Andrej Pernecky
Michael Poke

probably in that order although Pernecky may be in front off Forecast as I have heard that he is great for his age.

Overall I am happy to see Bart have a chance to claim his spot. Best wishes to Davis.

Shame the injury came just after Dave Merrington rated Kelvin double saves as brilliant and said Kelv is worth 10 points per season to Saints

Bart's a cracker and full credit but I do find not joy in this situation and wish our club Captain & stalwart a speedy recovery.

Poke is away until the end of the season at Torquay and Forecast is at Grimsby on a month by month loan.

Talk about your season falling to bits, first you loose the captaincy on the pitch....then your off the pitch....for at least 5 weeks. I think this could be a potentially quite dangerous for him, i realy rate Bialkowski, he's a good bit taller and better at crosses...i agree it a big shame for Kelvin though, his loyalty to the club deserves fate than this...shame.

I think this is not good for Kelvin - but i have faith in Bart - he proved he can play in the Championship when he went to Barnsley and done well. He looked good against Charlton too in the JPT. Still only young at about 24 for a keeper, think he will grasp this chance with open arms.

Different story fellas - hot on the heels of Paul Hart (unfairly) being sacked, Portsmouth's bid to host World Cup matches is now over, dead in the water. Ho, ho, ho come on St Mary's here's an opportunity to gazzump them!

Waited up till late to get the news,
PC going to read reviews.
Movement upstairs.. she's out of bed
"Do you know what time it is" she said.
"Yes dear, its half past midnight, and the Saints have won..
"well bully for them, you son of a gun".
In slipper ed feet and curlers in her hair.. she stamped her way up every stair.
"Come back down, let's crack a bottle of wine..
Let's celebrate, I'm feeling fine!!"
To my delight she did just that..
we stayed up late and chewed the fat.
I think she understands that it's war out there..
where would we be if we don't care.
I explained all things about Fratton Park..
And how they must feel, now they've lost Hart!!.

Wow... SC words head-city... It doesn't get much better.
LIFE IS GOOD!!!

If KD had to get injured, in some ways it could not have come at a better time. Looking at the next few fixtures Bart’s no exactly going to have a baptism of fire. Wycombe, Walsall & Tranmere hopefully should not pose any real threat in front of goal. This will only help Bart gain confidence

Not sure how you can come out with such rubbish! This league is very tight (as Brighton proved recently!) and what about Wycombe's win at Millwall last weekend? Also, you fail to mention that Bart's first test will be against Northampton in the cup on Saturday. I'm sure Pardew won't take any of these sides lightly.

Gutted, Kelvin has been a fantastic keeper for us and will be sorely missed. I hope his injury is not as bad as first thought. My vote is still out on Bart after watching him pre-season, but fingers crossed he can cope.

I remember a few years back I had Bialikowski in my premier league pool and he had a run of games where he relaced our number 1 who was injured and he shot to the top of the Goalkeeper stats for like 6 weeks then disappeared when our number 1 got better. I realize its only "pool" stats but I remember everyone rated him so highly back then
Good luck Bart!

Good news all round really. Super Kelv was making a couple of errors so will have to sharpen up to get back in and Bart is a top replacement who if he wasn't getting a few games soon may have hopped off somewhere else. So win win really.
