My husband was a Saints Wembley hero

The football world was shocked to learn that former Saints star Kevin Moore has a rare form of dementia – at just 52.

Kevin made 185 appearances for Saints from 1987 to 1994, scoring 13 goals.

He scored the second in Saints’ 3-2 defeat in the 1992 Zenith Data Systems final – Saints’ last goal at Wembley.

His wife Mandy talks exclusively to Sally Churchward only in Tuesday's Daily Echo.

kevin was a fully commited ex-saint and i know he also gave up lots of his time to coach locally once his professional career had ended.best wishes to his wife and kevin.my sister also has this terrible illness and although it receives less publicity than the dreaded c desease it is effecting a lot more people than we think.

I am so sorry to hear this. Kevin was an oustanding player for Saints and his goal at Wembley typified the way he played the game.

I hope he is not suffering and wish him all the best for the future.

Kevin Moore= SFC Legend

I was at this game but cannot remember Saints goals, think we were 2-0 down, then got back to 2-2, and they then nicked a third. Has anyone found it on line anywhere??

I've answered my own question, but watch out, Branfoot appears after 2 mins 16 secs! Great goals by Le Tiss and Kev Moore bless him.

Just watched the clip Brite Spark, great memories of a great day out, on a side note, was that the most hideous football kit to ever grace the hallowed turf??

I've actually got the No. 10 shirt from that game, think it was worn by Dowie and signed by the whole squad!

Very sad news indeed for Kevin and his family. Unfortunately 18,000 people under 65 are diagnosed with dementia every year - and it can strike anyone no matter how physically fit. Families in Southampton affected by dementia now have access to a special new service - Admiral Nurses - launched just two weeks ago by broadcaster John Suchet (whose wife Bonnie has dementia) at St Mary's Stadium and reported by the Daily Echo on 21 and 22 Jan.
