FORMER Saints defender Chris Baird played a key role in one of the greatest European football comebacks involving an English club tonight.
Baird, Saints’ Player of the Year in 2006/07, started for Fulham as they dramatically knocked Juventus out of the Europa League.
Roy Hodgson’s Cottagers trailed the Italian giants 3-1 from the first-leg.
But they staged a stunning second-leg comeback at Craven Cottage.
Fulham demolished Juventus, who ended the game with nine men after having two players sent off, 4-1 in the return game.
That earned the Premier League side a sensational 5-4 aggregate win and a place in the last eight of the competition.
