A VARIETY of vital life-saving equipment will have a permanent pitch for each Kidderminster Harriers home match after the opening of the new St John Ambulance medical room.

The fully-kitted out room, which has cost about £6,000 to fill and furnish, is located at the site of the old club shop and made its debut after being unveiled before the side's clash against Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

A life-saving defibrillator for people who have suffered heart attacks, resuscitation equipment, a trolley and first aid items are all contained within the room.

St John Ambulance county staff officer operations (Worcestershire North) Mark Woodward said: "Praise must be given to everyone involved in this project because it's a great example of several community groups working together to help the wider community.

"Work on the room began at the start of last season and it was great to see everything come to fruition at the opening.

"Harriers chairman Lionel Newton, two club doctors and safety officer Peter Picken were all there to see its launch with myself."

Mr Picken added several folk had required use of the room in recent Harriers matches, which underlined its "vital" importance to the Aggborough club.
