IT HAS BEEN a memorable season for many of Saints’ stars, but who has been your top performer?

The Daily Echo is once again giving fans the opportunity to vote for the winner of our Player of the Season award.

Many famous names have received the honour in the past, including Mick Channon, Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Matt Le Tissier and Alan Shearer.

And you have the opportunity to add another name to that list of Saints legends.

Kelvin Davis claimed the prestigious trophy in a landslide last year and many people will expect a similar margin of victory this season for 35-goal hotshot Rickie Lambert.

But things might not necessarily be so clear cut this time round.

Davis was the stand-out candidate last year, as his string of sensational displays in goal were one of the few high points of a miserable campaign.

But while Lambert has now stolen most of the headlines, he is not the only one to have enjoyed a fine season.

A long list of strong contenders includes Davis, Adam Lallana, Dean Hammond and January signing Jose Fonte.

As a whole, Saints have enjoyed a good year on the pitch, nearly making the play-offs against the odds, while winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley.

Lambert, who is League 1’s top scorer, is undoubtedly favourite to pick up the award.

He has terrorised opposing defences, finding the net 29 times in the league, one of which was for previous club Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the season.

Lambert has added six goals to that tally in the cup competitions.

But he is not the only prolific goalscorer in the squad.

Midfielder Lallana has produced his best ever season for Saints, scoring 19 times, while taking his overall game up a notch or two.

Hammond joined from Colchester in August and has added a sense of drive and steel to the midfield, while Morgan Schneiderlin has enjoyed a strong season alongside him in the centre of the park.

Davis has once again had a stellar campaign in goal, while centre-half Radhi Jaidi has been a rock in front of him.

Dan Harding is also deserving of consideration, having added some much needed strength and stability to the team at left back.

But you may feel one of the club’s January signings has done enough in their short time with Saints to earn your vote.

Fonte has been nothing short of superb at centre back, while Jason Puncheon has brought more goals and excitement to midfield.

Then there is Lee Barnard, who has chipped in with some vital strikes up front.

So, although the club’s silverware chase is over this season, there is still one trophy left for the players to vie for.

The Daily Echo has chosen 15 players for you to vote from.

These have been selected based on the number of league starts for each (with substitute appearances used as a tiebreaker).
