Thirteen players - many of whom with lots of first team experience - are now free agents after their contracts expired.
Among those released are academy products Lloyd James and Simon Gillett, experienced defenders Chris Perry, Wayne Thomas and Graeme Murty and youngsters like Kayne McLaggon.
Two players have been offered new contracts - goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski and Ryan Doble.
David Connolly's contract is due to expire, but he is not on either the released or retained list, as negotiations are currently underway to keep him at St. Mary's.
Players released at the end of their contracts:
• Lloyd James
• Simon Gillett
• Oliver Lancashire
• Chris Perry
• Wayne Thomas
• Graeme Murty
• Jamie White
• Michael Poke
• Jon Otsemobor
• Jake Thomson
• Kayne McLaggon

Looking at it he gave all these players the whole season to impress him ,that is why they have not been retained.
I think Antony Pulis will be on his way when his contract expires at the end of August

He became Jan Poortvliet's third summer signing, penning a three year deal in the summer of 2008.
As for Papa & Antonio they were both on loan until the end of the season.
The club are being very businesslike and saying they have returned to their parent clubs.
This is not to say Saints will try to sign them.
Reading did a very good bit of business as they had the option of signing Antonio for a further season.
If Saints want him then they will have to buy him.
That is good business practice

On a separate note has anyone noticed some strange s/ws recently? I don't know how the system generates them but they must surely come from some sort of editable database.

HMRC - Her Majesty's Revenue and Custom's.
Andyourmoneyover the poopey administrator can't count, and it seems that only party's with more than 25% (HMRC now has 26.1%)of the owed debt can scupper the cav deal that he's trying to get through (payout 20p in the pound), one of the debtors was in fact a creditor (to the tune of £4mill) and with this extra money in the pot , it now confirms that HMRC has the right to say that they could want to hold out for a greater share; andyourmoneyover has said that if they can't reach agreement with the other creditors the company would have to fold. That suggests that the majority of new signings will be young...and good..and 2 or 3 others in important areas that we need to fill or cover will be older experienced players that will see us to the PL. These players could even come down from the PL.
Lets see,the future looks good.

PLYMOUTH: Who just got relegated are in money problems, will be selling most of their "Championship" players and haven't got a manager.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY: Will be selling Tudgay, Spurr, Grant, Johnson and several others. Have money problems and just rejected a bid from an American company.
PETEBOROUGH: Will be selling some players, and I don't think they actually pose that bigger threat.
This is going to be a good season for the Saints.

At least two players who can play right back.
At least one central midfielder.
At least one striker (if 442)
Significant cover for wide midfield, unless youth is to be relyed on. If we play 451 more often then we need two.
I for one would prefer us to have a smaller squad of higher talent & ambition, if we pick up any serious injuries we can still look to loans & January. It depends on what AP's tactical plans are, only Norwich managed to beat us on goals per game, and only millwall & leeds had fewer goals against per game. We are close & if we add stability to our team we can rule this league.

No idea how Mclaggon, Lancashire or the other academy players were but seems a shame, I hope they get some good football elsewhere.
.
Thanks to Thomas, Perry, Murty et al who are great and experienced but I guess they wanted some younger ones to build a team which can stick together for the next few years.
.
I'm hoping Pompey win tonight as at least it will be a Hampshire team winning the F.A. Cup, but don't fancy their chances... Chelsea are rampant lately. You never know though, Pompey have got some great players and no pressure.

Morgan and Adam have 2 years left on their contracts. The rumoured offers above are nowhere near enough.
As for Kelvin div 1 best voted goalkeeper and Keeper in the third best defence in that league and bet defence in the lasy half of the season, why are a couple of people still slagging him. every keeper messes up from time to time. These players are obviously not up to scratch in his eyes and with the wage bill now lower it will enable him to bring in some real quality that will have an impact on the team.
However i wish the 13 well wherever they go, thanks for your efforts.

Transfers - May 2010
The transfer window is now closed for permanent signings for the remainder of the season.
Premier League and SPL clubs cannot sign any players, on loan or full transfers, until the transfer window ahead of the 2009/10 season opens on 1 July.
Clubs in the Football League can sign players on loan outside of the transfer windows, following a seven-day period after the transfer window closed on 1 February.
Outside of the transfer windows, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis (such as if they had no goalkeepers available) with the permission of their competition's governing body, eg the Premier League.
Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed outside of the transfer window if they are unattached free agents when the window closes.
Doesn't help much does it?

That said we don't have to sell our best players now & are on the up & up, if he stays he will become "Rickie Lambert - Saints Legend"
I don't think The Echo will be writing many more rumors for a while now; these threads are great for rumors though, without the backing of professional journalism we can take all rumors at face value & not give them credence until explained.
