I can't see us buying anyone without a manager tbh unless NC thinks of himself as a bit of a dealer??? Like to see someone though. Lines would be a great buy and lets just keep our fingers crossed that we get o'neil!!! COYWWARS

11:55am Tue 31 Aug 10

Martin O'Neill is the man we need.

We can't take a risk on someone like Howe, Shearer or Zola.

If it fails then the squad, and probably the backing will all disappear.

If Cortese's the type of business man he comes across as, then we're in line for a very big name, and O'Neill is as big as they come.

Red n White says...
12:07pm Tue 31 Aug 10

I reckon a lot of our signings were NC's anyway. I reckon when him and ML took over they wanted a top striker at this level - who better than Lambert. We needed a winger so NC gets Papa from Italy, also Guly this season. Were struggling to score without Lambert so he brings in Southends top scorer Barnard. We sign a lot of players from last seasons team of the year and conveniantly sign Puncheon before the JPT second leg against MK Dons.

Dean Wilkins has asked Southampton Chairman to sanction a signing before the window shuts tonight. Wilkins will put a late bid in for Matt Phillips of Wycombe who has been interesting Blackpool.

Wilkins will also offer £1.4m plus Lee Holmes for Adam Le Fondre.

Wilkins will then be given 5 games and will get the job if the team plays well and gets the results.

I think this is a hint that ther is not as much cash at saints after our saviour passed away as he is the type that can put up with allot like the Portsmouth days no cash at QPR a yes man and administration at palace I think the reason why pardew went at this time was that Markus got on with pardew but pardew didn't get on with NC I think he wanted this for a long time and I think NC is just looking for a yes man however I back the chairman to the end now it's up to us not to boo hart but to get to st marrys and support the team we are still the best team in L1 on paper come on you saints!

Blah blah blah. We'll get what were given and should make the most of it. I'm glad NC manufactured a move for us. The chairman's bigger than the manager so if they don't get on it's AP that goes. I did rate him but we could do better. Clueless against Plymouth but Bristol was good. AP coildnt change a game which bothered me. All this speculation over why's and wherefores though is getting dull now. I'll believe what I hear from AP and NC.

What a terrible couple of weeks this has been for Saints, firstly we lose our saviour Markus and then NC loses the plot and sack Pardew!! I was absolutely gutted when I read about it yesterday morning, almost as gutted as when I saw Paul Harts name flashing across the screen on sky sports news!!! WTF is going on???? Like many of the people on this site I had hoped that there was a bigger picture to the madness of sacking AP and put my trust in NC, but if this is the master plan then it is very concerning!!!!Sky are not often wrong, but I hope in this case they are!!!

Nicola if you read these posts at all (as you guys said Marksu did when you bought the club) PLEASE don't appoint Paul Harte. Rubbish manager for 1, also ex-Pompey. I GUARANTEE you that attendances will start to dwindle fast if you appoint this guy. Pardew was WAY WAY WAY better. Eddie Howe I could take no problem, even Tisdale, but NO PAUL HARTE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I do hope that it is wrong but sky are right most of the time sky sports is not a news paper they don't put rubbish on it there has to be a element of truth in it and also matt Phillips has signed for Blackpool if I was to pick the new manager it would be Nigel Addkins from Scunthorpe

Then the yellow Southampton sack Pardew, astonished, then thought ok Martin O'Neill to come in what a result! paul hart failed skate, failed qpr what is going on? Please let us have a manager we can believe in. I thought we were going the right way 4 - 0 at the weekend and good feeling for tonight and saturaday. Now not sure. Nicola we have faith but please get in a top flight man, we are in a strange position 22000 plus per game in league 3 or whatever its called nowadays shows the passion and the fact that we care. Good luck tonight unfortunately prior commitments mean i am missing but back saturday hope we get a new manager by then and one we can believe in. Nicola you must get Martin O'Neill.

The Gospel According To Deadly:

Lets cut all the negativity at St Marys!

They are probably interviewing several potential managers and Paul Hart's agent has let the story slip into the press.

I sincerely doubt that the board only have one person lined up. They would have a shortlist of three or maybe even more to talk to.

If the rumours are true and Martin O'Neill was at the Orient match I doubt he'd have gone there for a nice day out!

I expect Cortese waited until now to sack Pardew so he wouldnt have time to get another job before the transfer window shuts and try to get players such as lambert, Lallana, Schneiderlin etc. It had been said he'd been approached about the Aston Villa job - so if it's true, maybe he was tempted?

As a Saints fan I would love to see O'Neill or Brown or Mowbray or maybe even Zola in charge, but if we do hit rock bottom and appoint Hart lets get behind him and the team and all puch for promotion.

Sermon over!!!!

Amen

Have faith that NC knows what he is doing. It will be a high-profile manager as that is what NC is like. Pardew was poor on tactics, poor on substitutions and only relatively successful in getting the best out of the squad.

And Atpost, do shut up! We're not going to League Two, you are pathetic!

i have read this Southampton to announce former AC Milan manager Leonardo as their new manager this week.

Leonardo was key to the loan signing of Guly do Prado last week - and fans should expect more loan deals from Italy before the loan window shuts.

Pardew's sacking may have come as a shock to many, however this decision has been in the pipeline for quite some time.

Leonardo intends to leave much of the back room staff unchanged however he does want to bring in a couple of people he trusts, hence the decision to remove first team coach Wally Downes and goalkeeping coach Stuart Murdoch as well.

Paul Hart....wont last long here....

look at his previous track record
sacked from all of his previous managerial jobs

Paul Hart (born 4 May 1953) is an English football manager and former football defender. The son of Johnny Hart, a football inside forward and manager, Hart had five-year spells with both Blackpool and Leeds United, while also playing for Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday amongst others. He began his management career with Chesterfield, before managing Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, and Rushden & Diamonds. He was manager of Premier League side Portsmouth from February to November 2009, and managed Queens Park Rangers for five games until leaving the club in January 2010, joining Crystal Palace two months later.
