  The reason we are miffed is the problems are self created. We sacked a manager purely because the chairman didnt like him, nothing to do with results nothing to do with Fontes girlfriend. We then lost alot of ground under the caretaker. Nige was brought in the day after the transfer window shut. He then needed to learn the squad and is still fully finding his feet. We didnt take full advantage of the transfer window and indeed weakened the squad by loaning too many out. NC's last chance for this season is the January window and already there are veiled messages via NA that we may wait to the summer.... That's why we are miffed, nothing to do with fickle, we know it could have been different.

  Can't agree with you Seedhouse, NC is a business man and one of the basic rules of business is that "you don't have to like someone to work with them".
  Sure it helps but definitely not necessary.
  Whatever the reason or reasons we are not likely to know for sure, because of a likely confidentiality clause. It's history, move on fella.
  I have to say Seedhouse, from your past postings you come across as one of those from the Pre-Liebheer era whose nose has been put out of joint.
  Whoever is in charge now or in the future, all us arm-chair managers will never be 100% satisfied with results, personalities or the timing of certain events.
  It's all down to one common denominator the game of football itself. In the words of one very famous past England player --"It's a funny old game"

  I would`nt be moaning if we were in the top2 or very close to it,but as we approach Christmas we are mid table in the third division after starting the season as hot favourites.If we can somehow find the grit and determination,the consistency that we have lacked for almost half the season then maybe we can sneak up the table but i think it`s very realistic now to accept that we are at best a playoff side and if we dont go up do we then sack Adkins and start again?

  The league table I looked at says we are 5 points behind Sheffield Wed, who are second, with a game in hand.
  How much closer do we have to be before we are "very close"?
  Bottom line is that WE the supporters expected our team to be leading from day one, but have had to face up to a few home truths.
  We are clearly not as good or as strong in depth as we thought we were.
  We are not as consistent as we would have liked.
  But it is a really strange league this season.
  Even Brighton are now struggling to win games, and 'rogue' results are occurring week after week.
  Our main hope for the future is that in January, Adkins can bring in the players HE wants and the squad can get stronger and hopefully more consistent, home and away.
  To be as close to a top 2 place as we are, with a squad that has under performed, is a sign that with the right signings, we can, and IMO, WILL push on to a top 2 place.

  Costa Baz i do hope you are right and i guess all Saints fans are banking on this being the case.We have the potential but after 19 games 8 wins and 7 defeats im wandering when we will step up to the plate,we clearly need some fresh blood but going by the comments from our chairman that seems unlikely.Sooner or later 3 or 4 teams will begin to stretch out this league and i just hope we dont get left behind."
